The Wutherich & Co. Composite was up 2.2% in October versus the S&P/TSX being up 0.7%.

Trick or Treat? We write this having recently survived Halloween and are waiting for the US election to take place. We’ll let you decide which outcome would be the trick and which the treat.

Many of our companies are reporting their most recent quarterly results and we definitely see areas of weakness as they face challenges in parts of the economy. Uncertainty about the election is playing a role in this.

It has been a challenge to deploy the rest of our cash as many of our favourite names have had good runs lately. Regardless, though we own some companies that are experiencing some weakness, we think that most of them are very well positioned to enjoy growth for many years to come which neither trick nor treat are likely to derail.
